Animal Tales: In a Nutshell

Kids ages 4-10 who are interested in all the living things around them will love Animal Tales! This great program happens on the first Wednesday of each month. November's session meets tomorrow - Wednesday November 2nd at 4:00. No registration required!

Each month a Hendricks County Parks and Recreation Naturalist will read a story about something that lives right here in Indiana. Usually it's an animal, but this month they're changing it up a little and talking about the life cycle of trees. Come hear the story In a Nutshell by Joseph Anthony and learn about how a tiny acorn can grow into a mighty oak tree. There are usually some interesting things to look at and touch and there's always a fun craft at the end!

Then don't miss this Saturday's event! We'll be joined November 5th, from 2-4, by author Beckey Burgoyne as she talks about her Amanda Blake biography entitled Perfectly Amanda, Gunsmoke's Miss Kitty: To Dodge and Beyond. Ms. Burgoyne will discuss the writing of the book, will show DVDs about Blake's life, and will be more than willing to chat and answer questions! Thrill the World

Learn Michael Jackson’s Thriller dance at the library and dress up as a zombie to break a world record! The Brownsburg Public Library will host our first annual “Thrill the World” event this Saturday, October 29^th. This is a family-friendly event open to all ages. Events all over the world will be taking place at the exact same time (10 p.m. in our time zone) to simultaneously perform this famous dance, an icon of pop culture! You can attend our last “learn the dance” workshop tomorrow, Wednesday, October 26 from 6-8 p.m. There will be areas set up for complete beginners as well as those who already know the moves and just want more practice. On Saturday, October 29^th doors will open at 7 p.m. for another dance practice session and makeup/costume help (we will have some makeup, but you will need to bring your own costume. We can help with rips and fake blood on costumes!) Anyone wanting to dance for the world record should plan to be here by 9 p.m. with a photo ID, or a parent/guardian with a photo ID for minors.

A donation jar will be available to help the library cover the $20 event registration fee. Any profits made over this amount will be donated to the Friends of the Brownsburg Library, which supports library programming for all ages.

Take a Trip to Antarctica!

If you like to travel or learn about new places, then join us on the last Wednesday of every month for Armchair Travel Club!! Join us on October 26th at 1pm as we travel to Antarctica, as well as Chile & Argentina, with Hendricks County resident Ron Stoner, as he recounts his journey with a dvd of still photos. There will be time to ask questions, and we'll also enjoy food!! Registration required. Ages 18+.

Ancient Egypt for Kids

Calling all future archeologists! Are you a kid between the ages of 6 and 10? Do you love learning about mummies, pharaohs, pyramids, and all things related to Ancient Egypt? Then we have the program for you! Be sure to register for 'Exploring History: Ancient Egypt' at BPL. It's Thursday November 3rd from 4:30 - 5:30 pm. We will make some cool crafts and even try a snack from ancient times! Be sure to bring either a doll or an action figure to turn into your very own mummy.
